Introduction and Background of IRS Ltd

Integrated Radiological Services (IRS) Ltd., was formed in 1985 to provide a commercial vehicle for education and training initiatives and the supply of quality control test equipment which had been developed by the directors. In 1988 the company successfully tendered for the provision of Radiation Protection Services to the then Mersey Region Health Authority serving roughly 5.5% of the UK population. IRS has achieved an excellent reputation as a high-quality supplier of rediation protection services

At present the company employs 16 staff mainly graduate scientists and technical support staff with a significant number holding postgraduate qualifications. See their profiles here.

Over the past 30 years senior members of IRS have served on a wide range of national and international committees and bodies including technical committees of the Department of Health, Mersey Regional Health Authority, Institute of Physical Sciences in Medicine (previously the Hospital Physicist's Association), British Institute of Radiology, Royal College of Radiologists, Commission of European Communities, International Electrotechnical Committee, British Standards Institute, Institute of Management, Institute of Directors and International Commission on Radiation Protection.

IRS has gained accreditation in accordance with ISO 9001 and ensures the use of best practice procedures, processes and resources needed to implement quality management. As part of this system IRS runs a Continuing Development Programme (CPD) for all company staff.
