For a third time, the Institute of Physics (IoP) has awarded Integrated Radiological Services (IRS) Ltd. the Best Practice in Professional Development Award, recognizing the Company’s commitment to providing high quality training for Physicists working in a small to medium enterprise (SME). The annual awards recognise and celebrate employers who can demonstrate excellence in their staff training and development programmes, as well as promoting a healthy work-life balance. Having previously received the award in 2007 and 2011, IRS Ltd. was once again presented with this prestigious award by the Institute’s President, Professor Roy Sambles, at a glittering ceremony held at London’s Lancaster Hotel on 5th November 2015.
The Professional Standards Committee of the IoP were impressed by IRS’s submission, citing IRS’s apprenticeship scheme, clear commitment to ongoing CPD, record of conference contributions, well-established coaching and mentoring, concern for work-life balance and corporate social responsibility.
Since it’s inception in 1988, IRS has recognised that only medical physicists trained to the highest standards can meet the demands of the modern healthcare industry. The quality of the medical physics service provided by IRS is evident as they continue to produce state-registered Clinical Scientists, certificated Radiation Protection Advisers and Laser Protection Advisers, as well as leading National and International experts in imaging science in diagnostic radiology. One of the Company’s key objectives is to recruit, train and retain young scientists, generating rewarding careers in the medical physics field. The award from IoP is the culmination of those efforts to provide continual, high quality training.
Investment in the training and development of scientific staff has produced positive business outcomes. It has acted as a key driver to new knowledge generation and innovation pathways, enabling IRS to grow its core business in multiple sectors, despite the extensive pressures placed on all healthcare organisations to implement cost improvement plans. Resultantly, IRS’s comprehensive service portfolio and breadth of experience has made it an industry leader, offering a truly integrated approach to radiation protection and physics support for all imaging modalities.
