Introduction to Radiation Protection in Dental Radiography (Non-CBCT) & IR(ME)R17

The General Dental Council (GDC) recommendations state that dentists and dental care professionals (DCPs) who carry out radiography should undertake at least five hours of verifiable CPD in radiography and radiation protection, in each five-year cycle.

Our course covers Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations and radiation protection training requirements in dental radiography (non-CBCT) and fulfils the recommendations of the GDC for the ‘radiation protection’ element of the radiography and radiation protection CPD.

This course is appropriate for IR(ME)R duty holders, practitioners and operators.

Please Note:  Completion of this course is a prerequisite for attendance at IRS’s separate CBCT Level 1 Course.

Course Topics Include:

  • Nature of Ionising Radiation, Biological Effects and Dose Units
  • Risk from Ionising Radiation and Principles of Radiation Protection
